Watercolour and ink. |
I finally finished the mother and baby birds. The pic could be aligned a bit better, but that's the third pic I've taken and they are all the same. The old nursery rhyme: there was a crooked man woman who walked a crooked mile comes to mind.
I was on a hike yesterday, but without my camera so, unfortunately, I don't have pics of the wildflowers that are beginning to bloom. I found a new one that I haven't seen before named the trout lily. It's a delicate beauty. They are, at best, ephemeral, so I better get back out there and take a few pictures before they disappear.
I hope you are enjoying the week. It's bright and sunny here...so very wonderful!

What a sweet painting!
Enjoy the rest of your week ~ FlowerLady
Hi Debbie,
Thank you so much!
:)
Your painting is beautiful (and doesn't look crooked at all). I love trout lillies. We have them growing along the brook across the street but they are on the north bank which drops down from the road making it very hard to enjoy them unless you hang over the railing. You've reminded me to go check out one of the local parks where I saw them last year. Love those mottled leaves.
How perfectly charming!
Hello Dixie. such a lovely painting. showing such fine detail. I don't know the lily you saw, is it just in your reagion ? please go back and tak a Photo, I'd love to see it.
Thank you, Deborah.
Have you noticed how much better you are getting? I love all your work, but this one particularly hits a soft spot. Maybe it's the babies? Anyway, you amaze me. Look forward to those lilies.
I love flowers, birds, etc. Just now I have the window open listening to the birds sing.
It's coming along. There are so many variables--paint, paper, brushes, etc. Everything I use makes such a difference. What I can do with one paper I can't do with another, and on and on it goes. There's so much to learn and explore, but I am really enjoying it.
Thanks, Penny.
I love everything about your painting Dixie - it's beautiful and perfect for Spring.
You have such a talent and it's lovely that you share it with us!

I love walks in the wood in the springing of the year. Even though I see the same things come into blossom every year, they never cease to bring me joy. I absolutely love your watercolor of the birds in the nest. I would hang this on my wall in a minute!
Thanks so much! I enjoyed painting the birdies.
I agree...it's so wonderful to be out in the woods. What a great feeling of freedom!
I can't wait to go again...
