Hi Everyone,
Yellow/gold often gets overlooked when reds, oranges, greens and mixtures thereof take center stage in the fall. But those leaves have already dropped off the trees. And we are left with the staggering beauty of yellow/gold.
I didn't have to go far to capture this cheerful lot, proving that even when matted and wet certain things still look great.
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,The crownless again shall be king.
— J.R.R. Tolkien, The Riddle of Strider, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
One of my favourite verses that speaks of caution, and hope among other things, including the old adage: "Don't judge a book by it's cover."
Along with late leaves of gold, at this time of year, the sunsets flame with yellow as well.
Something yellow/gold.
Yellow has surprised me because the only piece of clothing I own is a pair of yellow finger less gloves you see above. (You can download my free knitting pattern here
Further, a year ago, I would have empathically said, "I do not like yellow," but a look back tells a different tale. When I revamped my blog awhile a go, I added gold highlights. It seems while I wasn't looking, yellow/gold, has captured my heart.
The paintings above, others, and greeting cards are available here
Until Next Time...

Hi Suzana,
DeleteLovely yellow for sure.
Many thanks for your lovely comments.
I have one that is yellow gold, but with the weird warmer than usual Fall and then cold snap, the leaves are definitely not as pretty as those. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteVery warm fall here too, and no snow yet.
DeleteTemps are more seasonal this last week or so though.
Thank you.
Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYellow was one of our wedding colors. At the time, many did not think it was a very good choice. We went with it anyway. ;-)
Good for you. It always feels great to go with what your truly wanted.

DeleteYour title certainly caught my eye, and your post full of golden beauty. Gorgeous photos and paintings. Yellow is my favourite colour and I only have one piece of yellow clothing, my first knitted sweater. To me, it is the happiest colour :)

J.R. Tolkein wrote such beautiful and thought provoking gems. The carpet of yellow leaves is amazing. How I would love to lay on them and look up at the sky. Autumn colour is always glorious; it never disappoints. I have never worn yellow as it doesn't suit me, but in nature it is always perfect. A beautiful post, Dixie.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful leaves. I like yellow it is cheerful
ReplyDeleteAlways been a colour that I can't wear, so I thought I didn't like it.

I have three big maples in my garden and still more in the neighbourhood. In October it looked just as in your photos 💛 In yellow I have only one T-shirt, nothing else in the whole house! Thank you for linking at Friday Bliss!
ReplyDeleteMaples are so pretty!
DeleteIt seems quite a few people have little to no yellow clothing.
It’s not a colour that suits me at all.
Thank you for hosting, Riitta.

XO Daniela (Dany)
You have a beautiful blog, Dany.
DeleteThank you.
Beautiful fall colours. When we left home in mid-October the maples trees across from our cabin were just starting to turn. I got a few pictures, but they weren't the vibrant colours they would be a few weeks later. - Margy
ReplyDeleteAutumn never fails to rain down all the beauty. A wonderful time of year.
DeleteEnjoy your trip, Margy.
The golden aspens in Colorado were glorious this Fall -- Yellow is one of my favorite colors though, so it wasn't such a surprise for me! And so of course I loved your golden -yellow collection and musings. And Thank you for giving us the whole Tolkien verse. The "not all who wander are lost" line or versions of it are quite popular on RV bumper stickers, but I had forgotten how lovely the entire poem is.
ReplyDeleteI bet the aspens were beautiful. I love how the leaves turn when the wind hits them.
DeleteIt’s magical.
You are welcome, Sallie. And many thanks for your visit.
