Hi Everyone,
Yellow/gold often gets overlooked when reds, oranges, greens and mixtures thereof take center stage in the fall. But those leaves have already dropped off the trees. And we are left with the staggering beauty of yellow/gold.
I didn't have to go far to capture this cheerful lot, proving that even when matted and wet certain things still look great.
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,The crownless again shall be king.
— J.R.R. Tolkien, The Riddle of Strider, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
One of my favourite verses that speaks of caution, and hope among other things, including the old adage: "Don't judge a book by it's cover."
Along with late leaves of gold, at this time of year, the sunsets flame with yellow as well.
Something yellow/gold.
Yellow has surprised me because the only piece of clothing I own is a pair of yellow finger less gloves you see above. (You can download my free knitting pattern here
Further, a year ago, I would have empathically said, "I do not like yellow," but a look back tells a different tale. When I revamped my blog awhile a go, I added gold highlights. It seems while I wasn't looking, yellow/gold, has captured my heart.
The paintings above, others, and greeting cards are available here

Lovely pictures. Lovely words.
And yellow is such a happy color. :)
Tolkien found the right words, with give us a mood for this mystique season with fog, colourful leaves and maybe calm for our soul in this days... thank you for sharing.
...what pattern you take for your wonderful fingerless gloves? Wow. The yellow is exact above in the captures.
Thank you, Dee.
Yes, Tolkien certainly had a wonderful gift to give the world.
I put some stitch patterns together to design these mitts.
Also, the yellow does match. Thanks for pointing that out.:)
A lovely golden post with hopes for Spring :)
So beautiful images and words. You are very talented in presenting them.
The yellow from the leaves is miraculous!
Thank you, Dixie! Have a fabulous week!
I have one that is yellow gold, but with the weird warmer than usual Fall and then cold snap, the leaves are definitely not as pretty as those. Beautiful.
Thank you.
Always happy to think about spring!
Hi Suzana,
Lovely yellow for sure.
Many thanks for your lovely comments.
Very warm fall here too, and no snow yet.
Temps are more seasonal this last week or so though.
Thank you.
Beautiful.
Yellow was one of our wedding colors. At the time, many did not think it was a very good choice. We went with it anyway. ;-)
The leaves are so pretty!
Love the photos, Dixie.
Your title certainly caught my eye, and your post full of golden beauty. Gorgeous photos and paintings. Yellow is my favourite colour and I only have one piece of yellow clothing, my first knitted sweater. To me, it is the happiest colour :)

J.R. Tolkein wrote such beautiful and thought provoking gems. The carpet of yellow leaves is amazing. How I would love to lay on them and look up at the sky. Autumn colour is always glorious; it never disappoints. I have never worn yellow as it doesn't suit me, but in nature it is always perfect. A beautiful post, Dixie.
Beautiful leaves. I like yellow it is cheerful
Beautiful woods, art and photos. Have a great weekend,Happy PPF, Valerie

Thank you, Veronica.
Always been a colour that I can't wear, so I thought I didn't like it.
But I enjoy seeing it everywhere expect on me. :)
Thank you, Christine.

I agree. Gold sure is a lovely colour gold. It looks great in bars too. :)
Not that I have any, but my imagination works well.
Thank you, Linda.
Thank you, Tarang. Yes, soft pastel. Messy but fun to work with.
It will be fun to see what you paint.
Hi Gillena,
It's always fun to see everyone's paintings and connect with the the great people from PPF!
Thank you.
Enjoy the weekend
I have three big maples in my garden and still more in the neighbourhood. In October it looked just as in your photos 💛 In yellow I have only one T-shirt, nothing else in the whole house! Thank you for linking at Friday Bliss!
What beautiful color! I really love the yellow leaves!
Beautiful post! I love yellow too but my favorite is blue....
Amazing Autumn images❤
Lovely! I love that firey sunset the most! #WanderingCamera
Maples are so pretty!
It seems quite a few people have little to no yellow clothing.
It’s not a colour that suits me at all.
Thank you for hosting, Riitta.
All the yellow was a real fall treat this year.
Have a lovely weekend…
Beautiful photos of the colorful trees
I am with you. I love blue too!
And, these days, differing shades of green are adding up to a close second.
Dixie - that carpet of yellow leaves is gorgeous. I'm just glad I am not the one that has to rake them up! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
Thanks for showing us the beautiful examples of Yellow/gold that we can enjoy this time of year!Sometimes we are so busy looking up at the Fall leaves that we forget to look down.
How gorgeous! The carpet of leaves is amazing! Enjoy your week! Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos and the art!
What stunning shots!
Thank you for the beautiful visit and comments you left on ~ My little old world ~ I so appreciate them and hope to read some other words of yours very soon!
Wishing you a most lovely new week

Beautiful fall colours. When we left home in mid-October the maples trees across from our cabin were just starting to turn. I got a few pictures, but they weren't the vibrant colours they would be a few weeks later. - Margy
Thank you for your reply.
The golden aspens in Colorado were glorious this Fall -- Yellow is one of my favorite colors though, so it wasn't such a surprise for me! And so of course I loved your golden -yellow collection and musings. And Thank you for giving us the whole Tolkien verse. The "not all who wander are lost" line or versions of it are quite popular on RV bumper stickers, but I had forgotten how lovely the entire poem is.
Thank you, Lydia.
Yes, for sure, it would take forever to rake them up.
Thanks for hosting, Angie.
Thank you, Suzy.
Many thanks. You have a lovely week too!
You have a beautiful blog, Dany.
Thank you.
Autumn never fails to rain down all the beauty. A wonderful time of year.
Enjoy your trip, Margy.
I bet the aspens were beautiful. I love how the leaves turn when the wind hits them.
It’s magical.
You are welcome, Sallie. And many thanks for your visit.
