A lot of trees are in bloom and it’s so lush and green out there. Just lovely. June glorious June!
Wild geranium and Solomon’s Seal undergrowth.
During a cleanup I found this watercolour painting in a drawer.
As you can see, charcoal will not turn very dark on this paper.
We are currently in the throes of a heat wave. 35C or 95F. A little too hot for this northerner. Thankfully, it will be cooler in a few days.
It's usually a bit cooler in the morning, so I try and get most things done then. Lately, for dinner cold plates and perhaps a cool ice tea.

Wild Geranium. So many this year.
Went to the Parkway for a little plein air painting on the weekend. Didn't feel quite like a fish out of water this time, so managed to come up with something.
Gouache on cold press Etchr sketchbook paper.

I splashed on some more colour.
It seems to have a finish of some type over it.
It reminds me of an Ent from Lord of the Rings.

Beautiful blooms!
The wild geraniums are so pretty, and I love how your art and nature walks blend together so beautifully. Hope your blogging break is restful and inspiring—you’ve earned it!
It's hot and humid here, too. Thankfully, I have AC, which is running constantly.
Your wild geraniums and Solomon’s seal are beautiful. I feel like I'm in a magic fairy garden.
Your plein air painting is charming. You draw so well. Even though the paper is different, your lady is beautiful.
Your matcha latte looks delicious and I love that mug. It works great for T this Tuesday, too.
Thanks for sharing your art and world, as well as your drink with us for T this Tuesday, dear Dixie. We will miss you while you take a blogging break, dear.
Beautiful trees and blooms, and wow your plein air painting looking across the water is stunning - love it π. Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x
It's hot at my house too, and like you, I'm ready for it too pass. All those wildflowers are gorgeous Dixie. And your art is wonderful. That sailboat piece is really lovely. It makes me think of cool...and feel a little cooler. Have a wonderful T day. hugs-Erika
Beautiful flowers and drawings! Happy T Day!
That wild geranium is so pretty! I don't see that often here. And yes, the heat is grim, isn't it? I picked a bad time not to be at the lake. I really love your plein air sailboat. You do water so well! (Did you jump i that lake after?!) Thanks for popping in and have a wonderful blog break.
Summer in Colorado is a brief but precious treasure ! I could pass on the heat wave high temperatures but I love the long days and seeing flowers everywhere.
Dear Dixie,
Oh, I see you're experiencing some serious heat in Ontario as well – just like we are here in Austria! (Though I must admit, your 35°C sounds even a bit hotter than our 30–33°C days lately π₯΅). I’m definitely more of a "northern climate" type too, so I understand how tiring that kind of heat can be.
Like you, I try to enjoy the beauty of summer during the cooler morning hours – and your photos truly capture the charm of early summer! πΈπΏ All those blooms, greens, and gentle light – what a magical time of year. Your painted and sketched creations are also lovely – I especially liked the one with the little sailboat, it has such a peaceful, dreamlike quality. ⛵π️
Wishing you a refreshing and joyful blog break – may it bring cool breezes and creative inspiration! π³
Warmest greetings from Austria,
πΏ Traude
