A Time Traveler
Mixed media ~ high key painting.
For those who do not paint high key means colours are mostly from the light
end of the value scale. Value meaning light and dark.
Had this painting in mind for a while. Worked on it and put it away.
Will re-do at some point because I believe I used acrylic over oil. A definite no, but you can use acrylic first and then paint with oil paint. I thought I would remember what paint I used. No, take notes.
The figure in the painting could be a little larger as well, I think.
Nuthatch painted in acrylic on a wall above a light switch.
Watched Jane Austen: Rise of a Genius on Britbox this past weekend.
At a time when men mostly spoke for women, Jane stepped up to manage her own business and was able to keep her copyright. She was remarkable in so many ways.
The Other Bennet Sister on Britbox is good series too.
What’s your favourite Jane Austen book?
Mine is: Persuasion with Pride and Prejudice coming in second.
Be well and stay strong.

This was an enjoyable read! Reading, btw... a lot of books parallel, but none of hers. Have a great T-Day and just keep calm ;-)
Lovely post Dixie. I enjoyed the photos, and I learned what high key means. That's a great painting. I read the Other Bennett sister a couple of years ago and didn't know it was now a series. That documentary about Jane Austen sounds interesting too. I hope you have a lovely T day and week ahead. hugs-Erika
I really loved the boats that float and those that don't. Very clever and great photos, too.
It was interesting when you explained what high key means. I'd never heard that before, but I'm not a painter. Loved the bee, too.
That tea mug gave good advice and the tea was perfect for T this week, dear Dixie.
Dixie this is a brilliant post. From creative skies to boats that float. I really like the one that doesn't float. Nice shutters. I really like the table with art supplies and flowers. All of the photos are wonderful but my fave is your time traveler. Have a very nice day today.
Love the time travel piece!and I want that cool car! Happy T Day!
Wonderful photos and the things you noticed. So creative. Lovely paintings, too.
I love this collection of images from your week. It looks like spring has arrived, while we here in Australia are tasting the first grips of winter. Enjoy your week, I am joining you at Peabea's scribbles linkup.
Love the Nuthatch painting. Great post of some random things. Love Jane Austen movies. I just know I'm glad I didn't live in the era where I would of had no voice. Would have been hard, I think, but maybe only because I never had too and was allowed a lot of speaking up. lol And, hubby let me even if he cringed sometimes when I was a bit too outspoken around friends.
I love seeing your town waterfront and those wonderful boats. What a lovely spot you have so near. And all the random photos are fun. Maybe, just maybe, the weather has turned for good! I'm enjoying "The Other Bennet Sister." I had always thought Pride and Prejudice was my favorite, with "Sense and Sensibility" a strong second. But recently I read "Persuasion" for the first time and that may have moved to number one. I really love seeing your paintings. I need to get back on the brush.
Such a lovely collection of moments, colours, art, and thoughts. I really enjoyed your post. Thanks for visiting mine. Hope to see you there again.
I love them all, but the tree and that old car are my favorites. Beautiful.
Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥
A wonderful and colourful collection of random things. The Time Traveller painting is full of motion.
A sweet little nuthatch.
I can see the boat photo turning into a painting. Just a thought!

Love the Nuthatch painting
Sense and Sensibility has always been my favourite. 🌸
I enjoyed this post and your collection of photos. I also lovecall things Jane Austen.
Good post.
...thanks for taking me along to see some random things. Keep looking at the details of life that many are too busy to stop and enjoy!
Lovely art and photos
I really like your impressionistic time traveler piece. I have never read Jane Austen books, but my oldest daughter loves them. I have watched movies based on her books, and I always like the strong women characters she portrayed. Happy FFO!
Happy Friday
Thank you for linking to AFFF
much love
That acrylic-over-oil realization is such a classic artist dilemma. We always think we will remember the layers, but a sketchbook note is a lifesaver. The nuthatch above the light switch is such a charming, unexpected touch for a home.
I'm so happy you shared this post with FFO. Have a very nice day today.
Lovely series of photos ~ lik e the time traveler and the acrylic painting of the sweet bird ~ Hugs ^_^
