The wind has been twirling the leaves from the trees for about two weeks now, but here and there banks of colour still dazzle. With the cool temps and glorious colours popping up everywhere you look, autumn definitely rejuvenates the senses.
Lovely with the green trees as highlights.
All is Golden
Here and there an occasional flower hangs on. This one has survived several frosts.
Sometimes the play of light just stops me in my tracks.

I enrolled in a Landscape Pastel day course in September. They provided Illustration board prepared with rough pastel ground and the ground was toned with brown paint. Not exactly, in my opinion, great for clouds because they look a bit dull.
Other boards were prepared with a gorgeous apricot colour. So beautiful, but alas, since I contemplated too long, I didn't have a chance to use one of the colourful boards because the brown board was the first on offer. First things first. Apparently there are rules even for rebels like me. :)
I did enjoy the day with a great group of people!

Such a shame about those rules. =) Your colourful world is a delight to the eyes, Dixie. I am surprised your hydrangea is still looking so perky after a couple of frosts. How fabulous you and other like-minded souls enjoyed a day of painting together.
Interesting that the boards were prepared for you.
Very pretty post!
How wonderful to go to the art course! You are very talented. LOVE seeing the Fall colors where you live too!
So beautiful. Awesome clicks.
Such beautiful autumn colours

How beautiful your photos in both this blog and the last one! Thank you for so much to contemplate. I'm in awe of your courageous creativity. Love, Joannie
Wonderful pictures. I especially like the lake with the reflection, and the flower. I often find that my photographs do not capture the full impact of the light - our eyes do so much more than a camera! So glad to have you return to Mosaic Monday!
Nothing beats the colors and smell of Fall.
Worth a Thousand Words
Thank you, Kim.
Autumn colours are so uplifting.
The hydrangea must be in its own micro climate--tucked in and comfy for now.
Usually they would use pastel paper.
Yes, prepared board because they would take too long to dry and we only had a
few hours.
Thanks for visiting!
Nice to see you here, Carolyn.
Thank you!
Always fun to try something mostly new to me. Pastels are messy but they
have a distinct look that I admire.
Thank you so much!
Hi Joannie,
Fall does stop you in your tracks and say look at me. A beautiful time of the year, leading into what I hope turns out to be a creative season ahead.
Thank you Joanne.

Thank you Angie and many thanks for hosting.
Quite right. Awareness without a camera does help you see so much more.
This year, I've been leaving the camera home a lot so I can look about.
Thank you and thanks for visiting too!
All rings beautiful this time of year.
I love the perk me up colours.
Beautiful autumn colors! We have nothing like that here.
Thanks for your visit.
I always enjoy autumn colors and yours are stunning! Your painting turned out well, even with the dark background.
Your post on 'My Corner of the World' is great to see this week!

Really beautiful photos!
Thank you Carol.
I enjoyed taking them. So nice to be out in the crisp fall air.
Thank you, Molly.
And thanks for your visit.
You can jump in the car drive up and visit Canada.
Thank you.
Hi Betty,
Thank you.
Oh what a beautiful fall--interrupted by snow this morning. :)
Most pastel paper ranges from a sandy colour(I prefer that one) to a dark paper. Some people prefer black pastel paper. But that day, I had my heart set on apricot.
Autumn green is so different, don't you think?! Such gorgeous colours. I agree with you about the brown tinted boards. Your painting is so lovely, specially the clouds.
