The Beginning of Autumn

 Hi there,

Today, I am writing this post on my iPad. I had doubts about it ever happening. But Blogger, with its new interface, has finally plunged into the 21st century.

Fall has arrived and everywhere you look you can catch a glimpse of gorgeous colours with hints of    more to come. It’s such a beautiful time a year. Certain garden flowers that have been bleached out by the hot summer sun, are also enjoying a vivid revival.
I never long for fall, and often lament the passing of summer, but at this point in my life, I enjoy fall almost as much as I do spring.

“Autumn, the year’s last
loveliest smile.”

William Cullen Bryant

Goldenrod and Asters

Awhile ago, someone ask me what I keep in my desk drawers. I admire curiosity. As far as I’m concerned it makes the world go round. Anyway, maybe one day I will shoot a video tour of my little corner studio, although I am not sure I could make it interesting. In the mean time, here's a sneak peek. In drawer number two: tubes of watercolour paint. The gorgeous bright pink: Opera Rose. Not a lightfast paint but oh so lovely.

                                                           Candy pink hydrangeas.

Moms and Roses

On a walk, I noticed this feather. It looked like it was floating.

I added a few more watercolour leaves to this painting. As you can see, there are real leaves here too.

The art cards I ordered arrived, so I printed some greeting cards made from a larger Calla Lily painting that sold awhile ago. I really like the matte finish on these cards.

When I cut these watercolour gift tags out of watercolour paper and add splashes of paint, I am in relaxation mode.  Although messy, adding texture with salt, alcohol, and cling wrap adds to the fun.

Love your paintings!

Autumn does look beautiful in your corner of the world.

Love your paintings and cards. I'm no artist, but did get into painting with different things for textures and was fun. Need to try that again. Your Autumn looks lovely. In Ohio, it is more like a November or December day minus the snow. Very chilly, and 30's at night. I miss our usual beautiful Fall weather as I love Fall.

Dixie - tickled to see you back at Mosaic Monday! Autumn has always been my favorite season, but spring is "growing" on me! It warmed my heart to see your calla lilies painting. My daughter received one from her boyfriend for their 2-year anniversary, and she is now a big fan. They are SO pretty and delicate!

I have to say that autumn is a beautiful season, but I dread the winter that comes behind. Fortunately, I am looking at spring with summer to come soon in my world :)

It's great to see you at 'My Corner of the World' this week!! Thanks for linking up.

The Calla Lilies are beautiful. And I love the leaves turning red on the trees. Where I am right now I've only seen trees turning yellow. Your paints seem so neat and orderly, I bet your studio is beautiful.

I like all the seasons, but autumn has something special - all the other three seasons together and a little more beauty.
Your art works are wonderful!

I need to try some watercolour painting. Our trees are starting to turn, soon they will be in full colour. - Margy

I would enjoy a video of your studio, Dixie. Autumn is gloriously hued, it's just the winter that follows that takes the shine off it....just a bit. =) Oh my, your Calla Lily painting is gorgeous. Love too, the pretty pink leaves on the top of the tree; so very interesting.

Hi Dixie :) Your watercolour flowers are so beautiful, and I love how you decorated your gift tags! Your flowers are also beautiful, it's cold here and the trees are nearly bare, waiting for winter. I can't wait to see flowers again in the spring! :)

Fall is beautiful! I wish it would never end. But, then, I think the same of spring and summer. I like the fact that it is spring where you are, so I have the winter months to look at your beautiful blog posts!
Thank you, Kim.

It certainly does look beautiful, specially love the reeds and your wildflower bouquet. Those colours inside your desk drawer makes me want to see what other colours you have in there. Lovely paintings, the calla lilies are one of my favourites by you.
