May

Hi there,

So far May has been a beautiful month.  Rather chilly, but just so lovely in rain or shine. The crab apple trees and lilacs bloomed early, so here the landscape is on the best dressed list.

On the art front, I've been using acrylic paint lately. Acrylic paint does dry fast, but what I enjoy is it's forgiveness. Make a mistake paint over it. Don't like the painting at all. Paint over it. It's that simple.

Acrylic on canvas paper--adhered to mat board.

An old frame I've had around for some time.

The last image from the portrait booklet that I have been drawing from.
Portrait from 1917.  To me, he looks very modern.

What a beautiful landscape of where you live. I would love to walk that path.

Your painted landscape is lovely. I like the clouds and how you added the birds.

I adore your mug. I'm a huge fan of Van Gogh. Thanks for sharing your painting, your drawing, your mug, and your green tea with us for T this Tuesday, Dixie.

Dear Dixie,
Your art is truly inspiring – I love the cool yellows in your painting, they give the whole piece a vibrant feel 🎨. I also really appreciate acrylics for their versatility – sometimes like watercolor, sometimes like oil, or somewhere beautifully in between. (Though I haven't painted lately myself – photography, gardening, and life keep me busy. But my current post is partly about painting, or rather, about a famous painter.)
The portrait from 1917 is so touching – I find myself wondering what that young person’s life might have been like. The blooming tree and the in that Van Gogh-vibe spreading green tea cup are pure joy to see.
Happy T-Day!
All the best from Austria,
Traude

Funny, our blooms all seem a bit behind with the rain and cool weather. But as long as they bloom, that is all that matters. And that tree is gorgeous. I am loving your painting too. It's very lovely, and I love acrylic paints just for those reasons. Have a happy T day. hugs-Erika

That tree is a dazzler. Ours are done now, and so sad to see them lose their pink. I love your painting and the frame. Isn't it nice when an old frame works so well? I haven't done acrylic in ages but you are spot on about painting over!

So beautiful and fresh images. The landscape in the frame looks fabulous. Indeed I like also acrylics, since I discovered also a retarder for acrylic, which allow for a person without very much speed, like me, to work easier... Lovely cup and probably also the tea...
All the best, Dixie! A fine and inspired June!❤️😘

Your crabapple tree reminds me of my elderly neighbor that lived across the street. They had a beautiful crab apple tree in the front yard. I think her kids took it down after it didn't survive a storm. Your landscape looks like a peaceful place to escape to. Happy T Day

The tree in your header is beautiful. All those blooms are a treat for the eye.
Your painting is really good and how fortunate you found that really pretty frame.
I love your van Gogh mug of course, as he is my country man (I'm Dutch).
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

Your painted landscape is beautiful, invites to stop and dream a little bit. I agree about acrylic paint - I've painted over quite some of my acrylic paintings and I'm very happy I did. I'm not talented at all, just like to paint.
